There was a huge buzz around Eleanor Oliphant, even before it went to print, and it didn’t disappoint. Gail Honeyman’s debut novel charmed the UK and sinched first prize in The Costa Debut Novel awards.

With summer coming to a close and the nights getting longer, it’s the perfect time to pick up a few autumn reads. So, if you loved Eleanor Oliphant is Completly Fine, you’ll love these three:

When God was a Rabbit – Sarah Winman

This was Sarah Winman’s debut novel, following which she had huge acclaim with ‘A year of Marvellous Ways.’ However, her debut novel still remains a firm fan favourite, telling the story of Elly and the unbreakable bond of being a sibling with her brother Joe. Set over thirty years, this book cannot fail to warm hearts.

    US – David Nicholls

One of my all-time favourite writers, David Nicholls (One Day, Starter for Ten) released US in 2014. It tells the story of a marriage in crisis and the difficulty of growing and figuring out who you are in a relationship. Written with his trademark dark humour, charm and poignancy, this book is perfect for a rainy Sunday.

The Rosie Project – Graeme Simsion

Another award-winning debut novel, The Rosie Project explores the journey of a man with undiagnosed Asperger’s Syndrome, Don Tillson, as he looks for a wife. Both comedic and heartwarming, it’s impossible not to love this story.
